Virtual Worship

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all physical services and events at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church are suspended.  A full statement from Bishop Geoff is available here -- http://www.thediocese.net/news/covid-19-and-worship/

In keeping with the guidance of the Diocese of Virginia and Episcopal Church, we will be posting online news and resources to encourage our parish to digitally connect to each other and find new ways to worship.

Dear Friends,

You may have seen Canon Flanagan’s (Carol’s) pastoral letter last Thursday, reaffirming that we, the people of St. Barnabas’, are the church--the building is just one place where we gather. Nowadays, as we gather virtually, our church life of love and service continues.  Mariel York, our Director of Christian Education, has provided the following links so you can join church services online:

As you might imagine, pledge payments are down since we have not been able to meet at church.  If you are not doing so, please consider making your pledge payments online via the Realm app.  Please call or email Catherine if you need help. (Please leave a message; she will reply.)  If you prefer, you can mail your check to St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church, 4801 Ravensworth Road, Annandale, VA 22003, or ask your bank to mail a check directly.

The loose plate offering, which typically goes to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund, doesn’t exist at the moment.  Please consider making a donation to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund to help those affected by layoffs and illness during the Covid-19 crisis.  Carol and Molly Newling intend to give their Covid-19 relief money courtesy of Uncle Sam to the discretionary fund, if you are wondering what to do with yours.

Thank you for all you do.  Let’s continue to pray for one another, the broader church, and our world during these challenging times.

Maria Macfarlane, Senior Warden and Grace Robbins, Junior Warden
