Illuminare in Concert
3/5/20234:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Nave
In celebration of Women’s History Month, St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church is hosting a concert by the vocal ensemble, Illuminare, on Sunday, March 5 at 4:30 PM in the nave. Illuminare highlights music of women composers, from mystical medieval chants by Hildegard von Bingen to eloquent motets in the emerging Baroque style by Catarina Assandra, a pioneer in the publication of women’s music. The March program complements the singing with pieces for virginal, played by director Vera Kochanowsky, and selected Biblical and poetic readings. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for Bethany House, a ministry to women and children seeking refuge from abuse and trauma.
