Mission in Cuba
St. Barnabas’ first mission trip to San Juan Bautista, an Episcopal mission church in Palma Soriano, Cuba, was in 2011. During the trip parishioners toured the remains of this parish which had suffered from long neglect. Following that trip, St. Barnabas’ parishioners and friends contributed funds so that the sanctuary could be rebuilt.
In July of 2019 a second trip was made, with altar linens, over-the-counter medications, and clothing being donated, as well as arts & crafts supplies and sports equipment for a Vacation Bible School program. In addition, funding was provided for new pews for the refurbished church. In November 2019, remaining funds afforded the purchase of a small house which now serves as a temporary rectory and parish office.
The next major project will be the building of a multi-purpose building to serve the needs of this growing congregation and its many outreach ministries. We invite you to join us when conditions permit our next trip, and to contribute as the Spirit moves you, as we seek to serve our brothers and sisters in Cuba through the love of Jesus Christ.
